How to read the labeling of organic products

labeling of organic products

  • You must pay special attention to the type of fats it contains, what sweeteners/sweeteners it uses; and if it also carries some type of unwanted additive.
  • Once we have read the ingredients and have verified that they continue to meet our wishes, we have to look for the seal that certifies that the product is organic.
To do this, we will have to look for the “Euroleaf” logo. All products that contain it comply with established regulations, have not used any GMOs and are respectful of animal welfare and biodiversity.
Along with this seal, in some cases the official seal of the organic farming regulatory councils of each Autonomous Community may appear; but this is not mandatory.
The only one that is truly mandatory and the one that certifies that the product is organic in any country of the European Union, is “the Euroleaf”.
  • Last but not least, we must look at the origin of the product. If a food has had to travel thousands of kilometers to reach the final consumer, the concept of ecology is lost because your carbon footprint will be very high.
The same thing happens if instead of a food, it is an ingredient of an ecological product. In this case, Your labeling must indicate “non-EU product”. The food will continue to be organic, but one of its ingredients breaks the concept of ecology.

Therefore, since Luis Gil, we recommend that you buy organic and national products such as our entire range of organic meats and sausages that we make with ingredients from organic farming.

And you, do you want to add something else to reading the labeling of organic products?
